The hydrogen permeation system, renewed in recent years, has always been used to assess the fishscale resistance of enameled steels. Significant progress has recently been made, thanks to collaboration between leading companies, universities, and innovative startups, in using these systems for hot-rolled products and assessing enamel adhesion.Specifically, the effects of steel type, thickness, and enamel type on one or both surfaces were evaluated to correlate the risk of defects with the hydrogen permeation system. The results suggest adapting this type of test to the new needs of the enameling industry.
